Hold onto your controllers! The next Xbox console might be further away than you think, with whispers suggesting a release no earlier than late 2027, and potentially even later!
It seems the crystal ball for the next generation of Xbox consoles is a bit foggy, with even Microsoft potentially unsure of the exact launch window. For a while now, there's been a buzz that Xbox might be aiming for a 2027 debut for its new system. However, this timeline has been put under a microscope due to recent reports about RAM shortages, largely driven by the booming demand for AI technology. These shortages have led some to believe that the release of next-gen consoles, for both Xbox and PlayStation, could face delays.
But here's where it gets interesting... A recent deep dive into the Xbox Full-Screen Experience has brought up the possibility that the next Xbox will essentially be a full Windows PC. This means it will leverage all the strengths of Windows, but it also raises the question: will it inherit some of its weaknesses too?
According to the latest intel, the earliest we might see the next Xbox console is late 2027. This information surfaced around the same time as exclusive reports on Project Kennan, now known as the Xbox Ally. The reporter expressed some doubt about whether Microsoft is still firmly committed to that late 2027 target, especially considering the ongoing chip situation. They mused, "I'm not sure if Microsoft is still committed to the late 2027 timeline for the next-gen Xbox, but if it is, you have to wonder if that's enough time to get all the chips lined up."
And this is the part most people miss... A recent poll conducted with the Pure Xbox community revealed that a significant 24% of you believe the next Xbox will be revealed in 2026 with a 2027 release. However, another 21% felt it was too soon for a 2026 announcement, and a substantial 20% predicted an announcement in 2026 but a release in 2028 or later.
From our perspective, the concerns about RAM shortages, coupled with suggestions that the PS6 might also be delayed, make a 2027 launch seem quite ambitious. Ultimately, the exact timing remains a mystery, and perhaps even to Microsoft themselves!
We'll be keeping a close watch on any further developments, but don't expect any official word until at least November 15th, which happens to be Xbox's 25th anniversary. What a perfect occasion that would be for a new console announcement, wouldn't you agree?
